Call for entries in the Donate Life Visual Arts Contest

High school art and media students are encouraged to participate

(SACRAMENTO)

Local high school artists are invited to enter the 2020 Donate Life Visual Arts Contest, sponsored by UC Davis Transplant Center and Sierra Donor Services.

Teens are asked to create videos or posters encouraging their peers to sign up for the organ and tissue donor registry. Teens are asked to create videos or posters encouraging their peers to sign up for the organ and tissue donor registry.

Participants are asked to create and submit a video or poster that encourages their peers to say “yes” to organ and tissue donation when applying for California identification cards or driver’s licenses.

Entries are due September 25. Winners will be announced at an event on October 28 at UC Davis Health and receive cash prizes ranging from $100 to $1,000.

The contest is one of the ways UC Davis Transplant Center and Sierra Donor Services are working together to reduce the number of people on transplant waitlists. California has the largest transplant waitlist in the nation, yet only about 45% of residents sign up for the donor registry. The Visual Arts Contest engages teens in the donate life message in a creative way, with the goal of helping them make informed decisions about organ donation.
