Year of the Nurse blog, Rachel Robertson: ‘It's hard to really explain the connection you form with a patient’

Rachel Robertson

A fourth-generation nurse and herself a NICU patient as an infant, UC Davis Health NICU nurse Rachel Robertson has seen and experienced many aspects of nursing. But she is an especially strong proponent of primary nursing.

Serving on the primary nursing committee of her unit, she says that primary nurses are unique positioned to develop a deep connection and understanding of patients – and deliver better care.

Hear Rachel explain the benefits of primary nursing, in her own words.

In celebration of Florence Nightingale's 200th birthday, 2020 is the Year of the Nurse. Beginning on National Nurses Week (May 6-12) and continuing throughout the year, a special blog will feature the stories, memories and motivations of UC Davis Health nurses.

Hear their words, and get to know why and how they invest such heart, passion, expertise and commitment in their life-changing work.
