The “Evening of the Stars!” fashion show spotlights courageous and inspirational people who altogether lost nearly 1,000 pounds following surgical weight-loss procedures.
The models — patients of the UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Program — will share brief personal stories and photos from their battles with weight and return to health. They will then walk a stage wearing the latest fashions for work, everyday wear and a night on the town.
The event takes place Friday, Jan. 31, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Goodnight Auditorium of the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center, 4501 X Street in Sacramento.
For 17 years, the fashion show has given proud patients a chance to celebrate their weight-loss success. The event also helps fund education and outreach initiatives of the UC Davis Bariatric Surgery Program. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Please call Judy Tsurutani at 916-734-7326 to purchase tickets in advance.

Bariatric surgery is a treatment option for obesity. UC Davis’ evidence-based, comprehensive program — proven to lead to significant, sustained weight loss — combines nutrition, exercise and psychological support with surgical procedure options. In addition to cosmetic benefits, weight-loss procedures can significantly reduce health risks such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. For information, visit the program website.
